A Night Rooster

The main character of the 2017 Asian Summer Film Festival in Vic is YouYou. He is a rooster that doesn’t wake up early in the morning, but he goes to bed really late. However, he has made us to get started early on the festival organisation this year.

The rooster symbolises effort; success can only be achieved with hard work and patience. This is what the organising team of the festival, the participating institutions, sponsors and collaborators will do: we will work hard to present a fantastic 14th edition that will take place between the 18th and the 23rd of July.

Why a rooster? 2017 is the Year of the Rooster in the Chinese calendar. China will open the festival and will have an important role in the programme. Rooster years are times of justice, dedication and logistical efficiency. Roosters are self-confident, open and honest, a bit proud (they are the king of the farmyard), but they are kind-hearted and generous. They seek respect and admiration and they are romantic and dreamer animals. These adjectives could also define the personality of the Asian Summer Film Festival.
