The tiger, protagonist of the image of the ASFF 2022

The Festival Nits de cinema oriental de Vic is approaching the celebration of its 19th edition, which will take place from July 19 to 24 and has presented this year's image together with some of the titles that will be part of its Official Section.

The press conference, held at the Espai ETC in Vic, was attended by Bet Piella, councilor of Economic Promotion, Commerce and Culture of the City Council of Vic, Quim Crusellas and Domingo López, director and programmer of the festival, respectively. In their speeches they showed the image of ASFF2022, this year starring Fu —tiger in Cantonese— and five of the titles that will be part of this year's film selection, including the opening film. Another highlight was the expected return to full capacity, after two years of restrictions.

Fu, protagonist of the 2022 image

In the last two editions of FesNits, marked by the pandemic and the application of the Covid regulations, the image revolved around balancing acts and comebacks, with a cat juggling in 2020 and a tent going against the current in 2021. For this 19th edition, an image inspired by one of the most widespread traditions in Southeast Asia is presented: the lion dance, but making a little "plot twist" and taking advantage of the fact that it is the year of the tiger, Fu (虎), tiger in Cantonese, is a passionate and curious character, looking forward to partying after a complicated period for everyone. The picture is the work of illustrator Xevi Dominguez, Xevidom, and designer Jordi Farrés of Partee studio. At the event, the creative process to reach the final image of the Festival has been explained.
