Last century, the 30s, Japanese invasion of Manchuria. The Japanese want to get rid of all Chinese literature and change their history lessons to colonise them. Underground book clubs start all over the country but the Japanese have organised school groups to disperse these meetings. Jing Hao, a Chinese student, starts a revolution.
Critics have said that this film is an explosive mix between Crows Zero and Scott Pilgrim. Zhuoyuan’s film is a stylish and brave divertimento and it gets into comedy, the aesthetics of comic books and the most brutal action films. It is one of the surprises of the season.
