In the summer of 1978, high school student Hiroshi, a passionate Star Wars fan, builds a miniature spaceship with his friend Yoshio and begins filming it using an 8mm camera.
Single8 is a coming-of-age story disguised as a love letter to the art of filmmaking. Director Kazuya Konaka explains: “I’ve always wanted to make a film about those days when I was obsessed with making amateur films. Watching movies is fun, but making them is even more fun. I want to make a movie that the audience can relate to.”
