Based on the classic short story from the Strange Stories by Pu Songlin. In ancient China, a scholar falls in love with a female ghost. He tries to free her from servitude to a mighty demon.
This remake of Chiu Siu Tung’s A Chinese Ghost Story is an inventive fantasy, with excellent art direction and some spectacular fights. The score by Wan Pi Chu is a homage to James Wong’s music for the 1987 title.
