Quim Crusellas and Domingo López, director and programmer of the Asian Summer Film Festival respectively, attended the FilmArt (HKTDC Hong Kong International Film & TV Market) to view and negotiate the titles that will be shown at the next edition of the festival (July 17th-22nd of 2018). In this visit to the world’s most important Asian film market, the festival team closed contracts with films from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, India, Nepal and Cambodia, among others.
Their stay in Hong Kong coincided with the launch of the award-winning documentary The Posterist (Hui See-Wai, 2016) in digital formats. The Chinese edition of this film features specific material and numerous references to the Asian Summer Film Festival and also to the city of Vic, where it won the 2017 Special Prize of the Jury.
The festival delegation also travelled to Japan, where it agreed collaborations with the HISTORIC – Kyoto International Film Festival (with a programming exchange), the GIGA producer, whose latest success Heroes Unite (Eiji Kamikura, 2018) will be in Vic with the entire team of the film, and with the producers and the directors of TETSUDON, the series of collective films that, for the third consecutive year, will fill the Asian Summer Film Festival of inventiveness and cultural radicality.
